LASIK

LASIK (or Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis) is the most modern surgical procedure for correcting vision problems.This is a time tested surgery with high success rate.
It is an outpatient surgical procedure for the correction of refractive errors in the eye(Myopia, Hypermetropia,& Astigmatism). Excimer laser works by gently reshaping the cornea to improve the ray of light to focus on to the retina. The laser enery removes microscopic amounts of tissue from the cornea to create a new curvature. The absence of damage to the surrounding structures makes this laser safe for the eye.

Epi-LASIK is a laser vision correction procedure that is very similar to LASIK and LASEK, and may be a good alternative to these procedures for certain eyes.

During the procedure initially topical anesthesia drops are instilled to numb the cornea and a superficial layer of the cornea called epithelium is scraped . Laser is then applied to the corneal bed as per the correction protocol. A bandage contact lens is placed at the end of the procedure which is to be removed after 4 to 5 days..

ICL(Implantable Collamar Lens)

ICL[Implantable Collamar Lens] is a state of art refractive solution for high myopes, hypermetropes and astigmatism where lasik is not suitable or advised for that eye.   1. There are many options for freedom from glasses like LASIK, ICL and Refractive lens Exchange. You require an extensive work up with your doctor to know
    what is best for you.

  2. In LASIK, we create a corneal flap , do laser ablation of the stromal bed and put the flap back. Whereas in ICL ( implantable collamer lens),we place an
    artificial lens inside the eye to correct your refractive error.

  3. You can resume your work the next day itself, but post operative medications have to be continued for 4 weeks.

  4. Procedure is done under topical anaesthesia, so there will be no pain at all.

  5. Please consult your doctor immediately, because you may be having keratoconus. It is a condition where there is conical projection of cornea, leading to
    corneal thinning and perforation.

  6. These are symptoms of dry eyes. Please visit your doctor for the same.
